sneak peak: style ideas for fall!

the reason why i loooove fashion is because of how wide the range of creativity can be! the trends are always the foundation and from there the possibilities are endless. one trend i have really began to embrace is the concept of vibrant color-blocking! during a recent chicago trip, i found myself practically in heaven when i stumbled upon a 50% sale at ZARA! not only did i find some great steals, but i also found the most vibrant pieces that would fit perfectly into my new fall wardrobe! in addition, people magazine did a feature a while ago about vibrant color-blocking specifically with orange and purple. how beautiful does cheryl cole and nicole scherzinger look in their fabulous combinations?!?! i cannot get enough!!

not only is cheryl rocking the vibrant hues, she also has on the cutest pair of high-waisted pants i have EVER seen! so jealous and practically drooling over how perfectly they compliment her tiny shape! and nicole, her high-waisted skirt is to die for and i am loooving the booties...perfect for fall!!

what do you guys think about this trend? fall 2011 worthy??

new trend: LEGS!

lately i have been seeing dresses above the knee getting shorter and well...shorter! check out a few images i collected over the past month! perhaps the 60's baby-doll style is coming back in??

the reason i am soooo in love with this trend is because showing leg is way more chic than showing cleavage! and it is obvious that all of these women have chosen one or the other. Jessica Alba, photo 3, has channeled the 60's baby doll trend that i mentioned earlier. the dress covers her completely up top but the leg makes this baby doll dress VERY adult. *also her combat boots are the real reason i have fallen in love with this outfit! those of you who were wondering how to wear them, this is the way!! also, for all of you CREATIVE fashionistas out there, if you look closley, you will notice that some of these women are wearing dresses almost small enough to be shirts. When shopping, look for men's tops or longer shirts to achieve this look!

comment and let me know what you all think!!

jet-setting with style!

one of my favorite websites is http://www.people.com, it has all the latest gossip, candid photos, and fashion trends. my favorite photo album is "stars' airport style" where viewers really get to see how stars dress themselves and what they are most comfy in. since i was so inspired by their latest album, i decided to put together a jet-setting outfit for all of you!

i find this outfit to be soo perfect because of how chic and efficient it is! i chose a navy blue H&M blazer to one, stay away from black since it is the summer, and two, for those cold hours on the plane! i went with a light and flowy cream H&M tank to keep from getting too hot underneath the cotton blazer and to celebrate the sheer trend. i decided to use red shorts because of their boldness and fit, they are high waisted and very short.

i didn't want to create a too patriotic outfit so i had to choose my colors wisely. instead of using a white tank, i chose a more cream one. also, since i used red shorts and navy blazer, i knew using a few gold/brown tones would through viewers off and distract them from thinking you're a walking flag haha. the gold j.crew double-row mini-link necklace was a great find! it's one piece of heavy jewelry keeping you from piling on even more. this necklace is basically all you need to dress this look up. i chose some tod's "gommini" driving moccasins for comfort and my gold/brown color scheme as well as this j.crew brompton leather hobo crossbody bag for hauling around your favorite traveling items.

though this may be an outfit i enjoy, all of you may find that you want to change the color of the shorts or maybe pick a different shoe. this outfit is just a suggestion to spawn creativity! let your imaginations run wild!

happy travels!

summer playlist: on repeat!

during the summer, finding new songs is one of my favorite things to do for day parties, going out, and laying by the pool. i'd like to share of few of the songs i am obsessed with (though they may be kind of old because i do NOT listen to the radio haha) so check them out and also read some of my favorite lyrics!

Smile
 Avril Lavigne

definitely a going out song or one for happily laying by the pool. i added this song to my summer list as SOON as i heard it and now i cannot get enough of it!

favorite lyrics
You know that I'm a crazy bitch /I do what I want , when I feel like it /All I wanna do is loose control

Don't Turn Out the Lights
 NKOTBSB
new kids on the block & the backstreet boys

never ever thought this would happen! two rival-worthy bands colliding for one song? the product is surprisingly a hit and i'm not sure if i like it because it truly bonds my sisters and i, or because it's new kids and backstreet boys, or if it's just good haha

favorite lyrics
And instantly you love me like that/right back?

Written in the Stars
Tinie Tempah

a light and airy tune capable of putting you to sleep, getting your friends on the dance floor, and putting you in a good mood. impatiently waiting for tinie tempah's next hit!

favorite lyrics
For a sec I even gave up believing and praying / I even done the legal stuff and was leaded astray / Now money is the root to the evilist ways / But have you ever been so hungry that it keeps you awake / Mate, now my hunger would leave them amazed

If I Die Young
The Band Perry

something a bit slower like "if i die young" is one of my favorite down songs right now. however, i love listening to it on cloudy and sunny days. not only is a beautiful song, but the lyrics are amazing, making my choice to only put a few words down extremely challenging!

favorite lyrics
If I die young, bury me in satin / Lay me down on a, bed of roses / Sink me in the river, at dawn / Send me away with the words of a love song / Lord make me a rainbow / I'll shine down on my mother / She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors...

You & I
Lady Gaga

i'm sure this does not come to a surprise but "you and i" by lady gaga completely blew me away. it is way different from her poppy sound and more midwest, country, and soulful...which i LOVE. for sure a love song but one that you can rock to. this may be the song i play this summer during any time of the day :)

favorite lyrics
(There's Somethin'), Somethin', somethin' about the chase / (6 Whole years) / I'm a New York woman born to run you down / Still want my lipstick all over your face / There's somethin', somethin' about / Just knowin' when it's right / So put your drinks for Nebraska / For Nebraska, Nebraska I love you.

summer days & nights

one of my favorite things to do is taking lounge wear and making it chic for going out at night. here are two looks showing all of you how to take a cute day look and turn it into a hot night look using some of the same pieces!

vintage by day

classy by night

as i was clicking through forever21, i found this James Dean tank and fell in love. putting it with the skirt dresses it up and adds color to the black and white design. the James Dean tank can be tucked in or, as I have started seeing, completely untucked. though the tank does not look as pricey as the necklace, they compliment each other when worn together and the necklace definitely dresses it up. the Joyce wedge brinks an edge to the outfit as well as the harsh clutch. you cannot go wrong with an old favorite tank/tee and new trendy items.
as for the night outfit, i am utterly in love with the tank i found at topshop.com, it is gorgeous and perfect for summer. it also goes with the necklace perfectly and the shoes bring the trendy "nude" color to the outfit. i felt that the bold blue topshop skirt was a great pop of color and that the clutch, with its harshness, gave this girly ensemble an edge. for sure my ultimate summer night go-to look!

thank you topshop.com, forever21.com, urbanoutfitters.com, and nordstrom.com
